A Christmas Poem for 2025

by John Williams

Twelve days before Christmas
And for fear of running dry
I take a trip to the wine cellar
To check my supply.

Ahah – Frog’s Leap Sauvignon Blanc
That’s always very nice
Might as well go upstairs
And put this on some ice!

Eleven days before Christmas
The kids are coming over
What about this 2007 Zinfandel?
Why should we let it get any older?
I think I have a magnum
That might just do
They say magnums are too much for one
But not enough for two!

Ten days before Christmas
Taco Tuesday today
There’s only one frogs leap wine for tacos
Flycatcher I say !

Nine days before Christmas
And I’m getting in the mood
I need a bottle that goes with this food
Lobster mac & cheese
That will make spirits gay
And go perfectly with Shale.and Stone Chardonnay.

Eight days before Christmas
the north wind she did blow
There’s a perfect wine for bad weather
Delicious Frog’s leap Merlot!

Seven days before Christmas
And I was going to go shopping;
But the weather and crowds
Make it seem rather daunting…
Perhaps it would be better
If I stay closer to home,
I could open some Charbono,
As long as I don’t drink it all alone.

Six days before Christmas
A break from wine today
And what I mean by that is,
I’ll just drink some rosé!
The Frog’s Leap ‘ Le Grenoille’ should
Really hit the spot
And if the wife asks if I’ve had wine today
I will declare I have not.

Five days before Christmas
The last day to ship
Ordering wine as presents
Is my pro tip!
No trip to the mall
No ugly sweater to don
Everything’s done from your couch
At frogsleap.com

Four days before Christmas
Which seems like an occasion
To drink some great wine
Not that I need justification.
Each bottle that comes with a memory
Or a story to share
Always drunk with someone
For whom we really care.

Three days before Christmas
And off for a night with friends
Several bottles will come with us
To good spirit, wine always lends
A Chenin for Susan
A Riesling for Hank
Some Petite sirah for Andrew
And Valdigue for Frank.
Don’t you love that Frogs Leap?
Makes all these crazy wines
You never know on our website
What you might find!

Two nights before Christmas
As we prepare for the feast
Then we start a fire
And put up our feet
Although she and I
Would never say it out loud
This Williams Rossi Cabernet
Is just too good for a crowd.
Best shared with a loved one
And a nice petite filet
This one’s just for us
Well , okay there
might be more Christmas Day.

It’s the night before Christmas
The hall has been all decked
A bottle of Estate Cabernet
Allows me to reflect

What a crazy world we live in
Happiness and strife
Somehow have so much
Some just glad to have life

We argue, disagree and complain about so little
We forget to celebrate share or recognize there’s a middle
As Christmas arrives, I for one make a pledge
Perhaps take a moment to step back from the ledge
To be thankful for the friends and the family I do love
And give profound grace to the God up above

So as the dawn breaks
come this Christmas Day
Let us all be kind to each other
and show a new way.
From all of us here at this little winery you hold so dear
Merry Christmas to all.
And have a wonderful New Year.
